The coronavirus part 4: Yup, still home…

When I started this blog, it was about supporting everything local; events, restaurants, bars, places and experiences (back when we were all allowed out in public, oh the good old days). Lately it’s been coronavirus specific and I feel that’s also important because this is local to everyone. Not one person isn’t feeling the effects of this in one way or another. Our reality has been changed and no one is sure how it’s going to end up. To say our new day to day reality is unsettling, is an understatement at best.

With that being said, there is a lot to still be positive about. Hopefully with all the people that hoarded toilet paper, no one will need any in the near future and stores will be able to stock it again! When did the idea of seeing shelves filled with toilet paper seem so exciting? Oh, and Lysol don’t forget Lysol! Wow, how life has changed in a month…

Ok back to the being positive thing. We can go out for walks and spend quality time with the people we live with and care about. We are getting more time with the ones we love, even if it is by phone or Zoom meetings. Haven’t we been wanting this? No longer being caught up in the day to day rat race and getting back to what matters in life? This is great!  Seriously though, does anyone else see there being a sudden surge in Wife Swap applicants when this is over?

Ok now onto the most important thing that has happened to all of us during this quarantine…no, not my renewed obsession with Farmville (and btw my farm is looking really good right now) but The Tiger King. Sorry for repeating myself from the hoarding blog but what the f*****g s**t f**k craziness is this about? This is s**t f**k craziness at its extreme and I watched all of it…

So now the question is, where do we go from here? We can’t unsee what we saw in the Tiger King, trust me I’ve tried. And we still have many, many, many days left in self quarantine. So, do we spend our time obsessing over how we can buy tigers from these lunatics when this is all over (BECAUSE WE CAN) or do we just take a deep breath and thank god we aren’t them?

I feel when the quarantine is done this will be a deciding factor in how people choose to proceed in life. Do you want to be the gluttonous gay man that lures straight men to love you because of meth and tigers?  Or do you just want a simple life, where we appreciate what matters and are kind to our neighbors, but still know deep down that Carole Baskin fed her husband to the tigers? The choice is ours America, the choice is ours…

Side note: Things are still crazy out there. Be safe, be careful, and wash your hands.

PSA: Also remember we aren’t “stuck” at home, we are “safe” at home.  Stay the f**k home.
