Hoarding in the time of the Coronavirus. WTF is happening?

So, I am normally the crazy, paranoid, (is this the end of the world?) person. For some reason though, this time, I’m not. Is it from getting older and wiser or the fact that the world was supposed to have ended several times already with or without scary illnesses?

 I’ll admit I’m in the “safe” demographic and washing hands, staying 6ft apart from other people and not going out to big social gatherings is how I like to live my life anyway lol. Maybe, this is what’s adding to my “calm”.

Then I went to Trader Joe’s. What the holy hell was going on? Every isle of pasta, pasta sauce, anything canned, anything frozen…gone. Now my “calm” is needing a glass of wine to settle down. I ran to the wine section (all the wine must be gone too!) and shockingly the cases of 2 Buck Chuck are stacked high, I grabbed 1 case (should have grabbed 2). Don’t people realize they may be quarantined with their loved ones for 14 days? Pasta and insane amounts of toilet paper can only get you so far…

Yes, now on to the toilet paper…

What the f***ing  s**t f**k craziness is this about? First, this isn’t a “pooping” sickness, it’s a respiratory one. Second, how much god damned toilet paper does anyone need if they may be quarantined for 2 weeks (maybe a month?). Cases and cases and cases? If that’s the case (pun intended), you should have seen a doctor WAY before this…

I went to one of the few stores I knew had toilet paper in the area and bought 32 rolls…way more than we needed right now. But what the hell were we going to do at the end of the month when we ran out and couldn’t find any for miles? I felt the need to explain myself to the cashier, that I wasn’t one of the crazy ones but because of “them” I needed to hoard as well…she really didn’t care but I felt much better.

Then there was the guy that bought 17,000 hand sanitizers to sell on Amazon and eBay for profit during this crisis. I just hope he burns in a slow roasting hell.

So, my final thoughts on the corona virus hoarding…we all “live local” somewhere, don’t be paranoid, don’t hoard, be informed, be safe, be sanitary, stay home as much as you can, look out for your neighbors and most of all…just be a decent human 😊
